Upon the establishment of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in 2019, the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) served as an interim governmentand acted as its interim parliament composed of 80 members of which 41 arenominated by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and 39 were nominated bythe national government. A Bangsamoro election was supposedly held on May 12,2022, but President Rodrigo Duterte signed 11593 moving it to May 12, 2025,which is timing for the conduct of the national and local mid-term election.Hence, the Activate Bangsamoro 3-StrIVEProject supports the government to educatethe Bangsamoro on complex 2025 national, regional, and local election.
The StrIVEProject shall promote active citizenry through proactive engagement with the new Parliament, specific objectives are the following:
1. Raising awareness on the newly passed Electoral Code;
2. Educating voters on the 2025Parliamentary election; and,
3. Supporting other initiatives that are related to the works of BARMM Parliament.
Moreover, MDFI will focus itsactivities in Maguindanao del Sur only.
